Club Statement – Home Fixture to be Played Behind Closed Doors
Sutton United Football Club can confirm that our opening home fixture of the 2026/27 Midland Football League Premier Division season against Lye Town on Tuesday 4 August will be played behind closed doors.
We fully appreciate the disappointment this will cause our players, volunteers, sponsors and, most importantly, our loyal supporters, who have backed the club throughout our journey.
Whilst we are naturally disappointed that we cannot share our first home league fixture with our supporters, we will fully comply with the sanction and look forward to welcoming everyone back for future home matches.
We are pleased to confirm that our history-making Emirates FA Cup debut against Coventry Sphinx on Saturday 8 August remains unaffected, and we cannot wait to share this special occasion with our supporters as the club embarks on its first-ever FA Cup campaign.
This serves as an important reminder that everyone attending football matches has a responsibility to behave in a manner that reflects positively on Sutton United Football Club. We ask all supporters to familiarise themselves with and adhere to The FA’s Supporters’ Code of Conduct at all times. The overwhelming majority of our supporters represent Sutton United with pride, passion and respect, and we thank them for their continued backing.
The Club wishes to make it absolutely clear that any behaviour which breaches The FA’s regulations or brings Sutton United Football Club into disrepute will not be tolerated. We remain committed to providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable matchday environment for players, officials, volunteers and supporters alike, and will take appropriate action where necessary.
We thank all of our supporters for their understanding, patience and unwavering support. We look forward to seeing a packed Coleshill Rd Stadium for our FA Cup debut against Coventry Sphinx on Saturday 8 August as we create another memorable chapter in the club’s history.

Following the heartbreaking loss of Jack Skinner, we are coming together as the Sutton United family to support his son, Clark.
Jack was a huge part of our club for many years – as a player, coach, friend, and one of the genuinely nicest people you could ever meet. His passing at just 35 years old has left a hole in the hearts of so many.
We are raising funds for Clark, in memory of his dad, as a reminder of how much he was loved by his football family. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
