18.08.2026 Vs Darlaston Town

Hunter's second half treble, combined with a brace of stunning strikes from Jack Sang and Lewis Wall's first goal of the campaign, secured a fifth consecutive victory for Sutton in another outstanding team performance.
The first half was competitive and evenly matched, with both sides showing plenty of attacking intent. Sutton suffered an early setback when defender Aidan Mee was forced off through injury after just nine minutes, but replacement Tion Pearce stepped in admirably and would go on to provide two assists in the victory.
Sutton had their chances in the opening period as Hunter struck the side netting from a tight angle and Sang tested the goalkeeper after cutting inside. But it was Darlaston who came closest when Ezekiel Agyemang clipped the woodwork following a dangerous cross from Joseph Attul.
Just as the half appeared destined to end goalless, Sang produced a moment of real quality. Collecting Tom Massey's pass on the edge of the area, the winger reacted instinctively to unleash an unstoppable effort into the top corner and give Sutton the advantage at the break.
The Greens raised their level even further after half-time and quickly took control of the contest. Only three minutes into the second half, Pearce's perfectly weighted pass sent Hunter through on goal and the striker made no mistake, calmly finishing beyond Adam Jenkins to double Sutton's advantage.
Hunter struck again soon after when Red Simmons picked him out with an excellent ball over the defence, and charging into the box, the forward showed great composure to score his second of the afternoon.
Sutton continued to attack with confidence as both Lewis Hayden and Ben George controlled much of the midfield action and it wasn’t long before Hunter completed a memorable hat-trick in the 63rd minute. Pearce drove forward before delivering an inviting cross from the right which Hunter guided into the bottom corner with a left-footed finish to make it 4-0.
The fifth goal arrived from a free kick after Oli Jeeves was brought down on the edge of the area. Jordan Clement's delivery caused problems and, after Jeeves' initial effort was saved, Wall reacted quickest to convert the rebound from close range.
Darlaston earned a consolation goal eight minutes from time through substitute David Agyekum, whose superb strike from 20 yards found the top corner.
However, Sutton had the final word as Sang capped an excellent evening by producing a second spectacular finish, receiving Clement's pass before curling a tremendous effort from 25 yards into the top corner to seal an outstanding 6-1 victory.
With five straight wins, plenty of goals and confidence growing throughout the squad, Sutton head into Saturday's FA Cup Preliminary Round tie against Abbey Hulton in excellent form.
